The History and Value of School Play |

Abstract In addition to the important impact on China’s drama, school play has unique values in education. Nevertheless, the development of school play was seemed a little flexural especially in the Eastern society. Before the implement of institutional education, ancient Greek has noticed the important connection between education and drama. Johann Amos Comenius brought the drama to school education and gave it a certain status in curriculum. Dewey endowed it with some newer connotation and school play that as one of religious means transformed into the highest form of art education. It becomes educational drama that can assist the teaching of normal disciplines.
