Abstract In the 1950’s science curriculum reform movement, Schwab put forward science teaching through inquiry combining his subject structure theory which includes two components, science as inquiry and teaching science as inquiry, based on his science background and research experiences. Schwab’s thoughts still have great guiding significance and implication for today’s science teaching and are of immortal value.
